Bye-bye!!

This year I'm going to teach only 1st graders, so I'm not going to use this blog any more because I've created a new one for Year 1.
I hope this blog has been a good tool for my pupils and their families to practise, review and have fun with English!!

End of the school year 2.015

This is the last entry of the blog this year. Classes have finished and summertime is here! Now, let's continue in Spanish, as this is for parents.

Las clases han terminado y ha llegado el momento del merecido descanso para nuestros peques. Pero como el verano es muy largo y hay lugar para todo, me gustaría comentaros algunas recomendaciones para estas vacaciones:

• Sería bueno repasar lo que han ido haciendo a lo largo del curso en los materiales de inglés: la libreta, el Activity Book, el Class Book y el Skills Book. 
• Si alguna familia consideráis oportuno trabajar también con algún cuadernillo de repaso, os recomiendo el de la editorial de los libros que llevamos: "Oxford Holiday English". Aunque os recuerdo que no es obligatorio, por eso tampoco lo vamos a trabajar luego a la vuelta a clase.
• Este blog recoge muchas de las tareas realizadas en clase, las vacaciones son un buen momento para recordarlas y practicar los juegos "on line" que nos permiten repasar de una manera más lúdica.
• Ahora probablemente se vea un poco más la tele, esto lo podemos aprovechar para ver programas o películas en inglés.
• Aunque en otras ocasiones lo he publicado también, os dejo este interesante artículo de la página de Oxford University Press, la editorial de los libros que utilizamos en clase.

• Pero, my recomendación más importante para estas vacaciones es:

     Aunque se publicarán también en la página del cole, os informo acerca de los libros del próximo curso, que serán los mismos que hemos trabajado este año, es decir:

• Big Surprise 1 (Editorial Oxford) Libro y cuadernillo, para 1º
• Big Surprise 2     "               "           "               "      , para 2º
• Big Surprise 3     "               "           "               "      , para 3º

... Y para terminar la última entrada del blog de este curso, me gustaría transmitiros mi agradecimiento por la implicación que en general mostráis en el proceso educativo de vuestros hijos. El trabajo conjunto hogar-escuela es el que mejores resultados da. También quiero agradeceros el afecto y ánimo que me mostráis en muchas ocasiones. Con eso y, sobre todo, las muestras de interés y entusiasmo de vuestr@s hij@s veo recompensado el tiempo y esfuerzo que le dedico al blog, este otro recurso didáctico que utilizo en mis clases.Y por supuesto :

3rd gradres sing "Here comes the sun" by The Beatles

Children in 3rdA and 3rdB ended their English classes singing this classical song by "The Beatles", full of optimism because of the return of the summer.
They did it really great, even if it was a bit difficult for them!!

Unit 6 projects, grade 2

In this case children in year 2 are going to write down the instructions of the last project of the year, instead of just sticking the copy with those instructions. Anyway, as it is the first time, I give the explanations also here. And as this entry is aimed at parents, I continue in Spanish:

        Los niños y niñas de 2º  copiarán en sus libretas las instrucciones para realizar el último project. En esta ocasión dibujarán una casa de muñecas (como las que aparecen en sus libros) y en cada una de sus dependencias pondrán algunos de los personajes, animales, comida, ropa de los que hemos trabajado a lo largo del curso (en las páginas 70 y 71 del Class Book están las palabras más importantes que se han trabajado) Por último escribirán oraciones explicando lo que se ve, siguiendo la estructura:

The ______(object, animal, person ... ) is in the ________ (bedroom, kitchen ...) 

La fecha tope para entregarlo será el lunes 15 de junio.

Children in year 1 are progressing on learning studying skills and this is why they are going to write down the instructions of the last project of the year, instead of just sticking the copy with those instructions.         Los niños y niñas de 1º  copiarán en sus libretas las instrucciones para realizar el último project. Como en otras ocasiones, tendrán que ilustar con dibujos, recortes, etc varias frases utilizando el vocabulario de la unidad (fruta y comida en general). Estas frases estarán formadas por la estructura "I like" (a mí me gusta) y "I don`t like" (a mí no me gusta). La fecha tope será el próximo lunes 15 de junio.

Numbers book for grade 2

2nd graders have been practicing numbers to 20 in unit 6. Here's a fantastic interactive numbers book to learn ALL numbers. You have to do only untill page 11 (then you can find numbers that we haven't studied yet!!)

End of unit 6, for grade 2

Children in year 2 are finishing Unit 6. So this week we are reviewing units 5 and 6 because next Monday 8th June, we are going to do the exam.

End of unit 6, for Grade 1

Children in year 1 are finishing Unit 6. So this week we are reviewing units 5 and 6 because next Monday 8th June, we are going to do the exam.

Green Week at school: ecology and Earth care

This week we are celebrating the "Green week" at school, and we are doing different activities that help us be more conscious of how impotant is it to care our environment.

Online homework for 3rd graders

Today I sugget you a different game. It's a voluntary homework. You can do it by pairs and you will need an adult's help.

These are the steps you have to follow:
1.- Listen to 8 sentences begining by "There's a ..." in this video.
2.- Listen again (pause if it is necessary) and write "True" or "False" after each sentence on your notebooks.
3.- Write your name, class and answer in a comment, similar to the example I've written.
4.- Clic on "Comentar como" and select "Anónimo".
5.- Clic on "Publicar"

Don't worry if you can't write a comment here. Next Tuesday,we're going to talk about the results of this new activity, that I hope you have found interesting and motivating.

Tricia's talk for year 3

         Last Thursday 23th, we had a fantastic English lesson by Tricia Audette. She talked to us about herself, but also about means of transport, type of houses and all the things we can find in a city. Then we played a funny guessing game and finally she told us "The three little pigs". But the really great thing is that she managed to make all the children talk (although they were a bit noisy!)

Thanks a lot, Tricia, for such a good time we had practicing our English!!

Unit 5 review, for year3
